    M.S. - Ph.D. PROGRAMS IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

Ph.D program at the Department of International Relations is designed for those students with an M.A. degree in International Relations or a related discipline, with an interest in further study in the field.

The Ph.D program consists of seven courses, written and oral comprehensive exams, defense of the thesis proposal and the Ph.D thesis. It is expected that students complete all work related to Ph.D within eight semesters. The comprehensive exams aim at evaluating the students' proficiency in the fields of the 'Theories of International Relations', a region of expertise (The Middle East, Europe, Central Asia, et. al.) and a non-departmental subject of specialization (for example topics in sociology, philosophy, history and others).

Applications to the program are taken once a year for the Fall semester only. Admissions are made through a two-tier process i.e. initial review on paper and interviews. Those students short-listed for the interviews are determined after the review of the applications on the basis of the variables such as cumulative grade point average, points taken from LES (Examination for Graduate Study)/GRE etc.

    Fields of Study:
The Department offers seminars and supervision on both theoretical and legal aspects of International Relations and on areas studies such as the Middle East and Europe.
