Course in Painting and Artistic Drawing.
Summer and Winter Courses - Como
This two-weeks course is structured as a painting and artistic drawing atelier, where, under the guidance of professional artists, you will expand on your core drawing and painting skills and experiment more with colours.
Through the use of different mediums you will learn to capture the human body, paint still life objects and portray plein air landscape, translating your ideas into painted and drawing compositions.
Classes may take place both in our fully equipped studio as well as outdoors, in the squares and streets of the city.

Description.
Schedule: Held from Monday to Friday, on a part-time basis (morning and afternoon) the course has a duration of 60 hours spread over 2 weeks.
Target: This course is suitable for beginners, or those who are more experienced but would like to re-engage with the first principles of drawing and painting. The high school diploma and an upper-intermediate level of English language are necessary in order to be admitted.
Methodology and structure - The course is structured as an experiential workshop and it is characterized by laboratory activities and theoretical insights. Conducted by professional artists in a dedicated environment, the program aims to involve students, with different skills and backgrounds (while respecting the individual specificities), in a perspective of personal evolution of each.
The course includes strongly structured moments, as well as collective reflections, experiences of phenomenological reading of painting, leaving ample room for individual creativity. By the end of the course, under the guidance of our teachers, you will develop a series of drawing and painting works that will be exposed during the final exhibition.
The visits to places of artistic and historical interest, such as Basilica of Sant'Abbondio, Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta (Duomo), Church of San Fedele, Pinacoteca Civica (Como), Isola Comacina, Villa del Balbianello (Lenno) and Santa Tecla and San Giovanni churches (Torno), will serve both as a source of inspiration as well as a cultural enrichment.
Study Plan.
The training path is structured in two macro didactic areas: Drawing and Painting.
Drawing.
This part of the course focuses on the practice and experience of drawing, as a deepening of "learning to see" and the natural principles of the description of the form, through the analysis of plastic values related to light, gesture, expressive or didactic ability. The lessons include an experience of drawing from life of still life and figure.
The module includes the teaching of geometric drawing, the study of the human figure, of colour, of perspective in drawing, the theory of shadows and the practice of drawing from life and by hand, with in-depth examination of the main supports and tools available (paper - graphite, charcoal, sanguine).
Painting.
During the second part of the course you will identify and develop your style of painting, both through pushing your creative expression and refining your technical abilities. Through a series of exercises in painting methodology, phenomenological observation, gestural experimentation, you establish your own style and identity, and you will gain experience and skills in still llife, figure and landscape en plein air. The atelier includes: introduction to materials and tools (paper, canvas, plaster - watercolor, acrylic, oil), mixing palettes, methods of pictorial representation (tempera and oil technique on paper and canvas), the study of color and light, collages. Emphasis is put on exploring personal ideas, sustaining open dialogue with your peers and the tutor.
